Audition Instructions

Music Audition

Students in K-6 should select and prepare one of the Audition Songs linked below. However, older students who already have songs of 32 bars or less prepared from voice lessons or previous auditions may choose to perform those songs. If you are uncertain, or if this is your first audition, you will be most successful using one of the Audition Songs provided.

If young students find the Audition Songs challenging, they can choose to sing either Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Happy Birthday. You do not need to memorize your music.

Students in 7-12 are also strongly encouraged to select one of the Audition Songs below. However, older students who already have songs of 32 bars or less prepared from voice lessons or previous auditions may choose to perform those songs. If you are uncertain, or if this is your first audition, you will be most successful using one of the Audition Songs provided. You do not need to memorize your music.

Click the link below to access the audition songs. Please print and practice a song of your choice. You may select any song regardless of gender, style, or content. View the Audition Songs.

Reading Audition

You may select any monologue, regardless of your gender or the role for which you would like to be considered. Choose the piece that feels best to you. There are books of monologues available online and at most public libraries. Some monologue options are also available: View the Monologues.

Older students are asked to perform a memorized monologue of their choice of 1 minute or less. Students should choose a monologue that shows their ability to create an interesting character.

Younger students are asked perform a monologue of their choice of one minute or less. Memorizing will be considered favorably but is not required.
