Young Wiggins, the leader of a gang of street urchins, picks the wrong pocket to pick and ends up in the hands of the great detective, Sherlock Holmes, who immediately sees potential in this ingenious youngster. Full of suspense and comedy, this show will delight audiences of all ages.

Production Information

Thank you for your interest in the upcoming production of Sherlock Holmes! This is a live production that will be produced on the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts Stage. As a City of Coralville program, we cannot require mask wearing by volunteers or audience members. Actors are welcome to wear masks during rehearsals. Performances of this show will be unmasked.

There are three performances. If you audition, you must be able to commit to this:

  • Friday, September 10 at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, September 11 at 7:00 PM
  • Sunday, September 12 at 2:00 PM.

Rehearsals run Monday – Thursday from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM as well as Sunday afternoons. Not all actors will be called to all rehearsals. Rehearsals start July 19. Please list all conflicts on your audition form. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director.

Tech week begins with loading into the theatre on Sunday, September 5. No absences are permitted during tech week. Note that there will be a rehearsal on Labor Day, September 6, in the evening and that rehearsal is mandatory as well.


 Casting is open to actors entering 5th through 12th grade in the fall.

  • June 19 from 10am to 12pm


Auditions will be held at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, 1301 5th Street, Coralville. Please use the underground parking entrance. The entrance will be marked “Sherlock Holmes Auditions”.


Actors may perform a short monologue if they would like, but this is not required. All actors will read scenes from the script. You are welcome to read through the scenes in advance by clicking the links below.

Participation Fees & Scholarships

If cast, Young Footliters has a $45 participation fee for this production to help cover costs (such as costumes, sets, props, painting, royalty rights, performance and rehearsal facilities). Thank you for your understanding and support.

Scholarships are available through the Revier Family Scholarship Fund for families with financial need. Please contact Evan Hilsabeck to request a scholarship form.
