This is the endearing classic about a mouse named Stuart Little who is born into an ordinary New York family. The many adventures—both big and small—of Stuart Little are brought vividly to life in this staging of E.B. White’s beloved story! Our production is for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Welcome to Auditions!

About the Show:
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming production of Stuart Little! This is a live production that will be produced onstage at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. There are three performances of Stuart Little. All actors auditioning must be available for all three performances.
- Friday, October 22 at 7:00 PM
- Saturday, October 23 at 7:00 PM
- Sunday, October 24 at 2:00 PM.
Rehearsals run Monday – Thursday from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM. We may have an occasional Sunday afternoon rehearsal if necessary. In general, students are not called to every rehearsal. Rehearsals start Monday, August 30, 2021. Tech week begins on Sunday October 17. No absences are permitted during tech week.
We cannot require mask wearing by volunteers or audience members. Students are welcome to wear masks during rehearsals. For students who choose to wear masks during performance, we will provide costume-appropriate masks.
Auditions take place during the following times. Students will sign up for a short audition time.
- Friday, August 20 from 6pm to 8pm
- Saturday, August 21 from 10am to 12pm
Auditions will take place in Schwab Auditorium at the Coralville Public Library. The Library is located at 1401 5th Street in Coralville. Please use the underground parking and enter through the basement door.
There are many roles available in Stuart Little! You can find them all listed on the character list.
Preparing for the Audition:
- Students interested in a speaking role should prepare a memorized monologue. Students can perform a monologue of their own choosing, or one of these provided monologues.
- Students will play some theatre games with other auditionees.
To audition, you will complete two forms using the link below. The first is an audition form, which gathers important information about each student. The second form is a sign up time for the audition you will attend. You'll need to complete both forms before you can audition. We recommend filling out this form on a desktop or laptop computer.
Sign up for an audition.
Please make sure that you've clicked "submit" on both forms. You may need to return to your audition form and submit it after signing up for an audition time.
Please list all schedule conflicts on your audition form. Think of everything your student does that might interfere with rehearsals: vacations, practices, family commitments, or other obligations. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director.
Participation Fee & Scholarships:
For students cast in our production, Young Footliters has a $45 participation fee. This fee helps to make our show possible, and covers a portion of our production costs such as costumes, sets, props, painting, royalty rights, performance and rehearsal facilities.
We believe theatre participation should be possible for every student. Young Footliters is committed to providing scholarships to all students who require one, and we never turn away a student for inability to pay participation fees. Scholarships are available through the Revier Family Scholarship Fund for families with financial need. Please contact Evan Hilsabeck to receive a scholarship form.
Performances of Stuart Little will take place at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Ticketing information will be forthcoming.
