About the Show:

Wings takes the audience to a world where teenagers come of age by getting their wings. But the wings are more than just a way to fly high – they can also hurt others. One teen decides to fight back against the tradition and find a new way to fly. This is a story of youth pushing back on the way it’s always been, fighting for a new and better path to the sky. A world premiere play filled with humor and pathos that has many parallels to the world our teenagers experience every day.

Production Information:

Thank you for your interest in the upcoming production of the play Wings. Please note that this play deals with the subject of violence. It is presented in a way that is appropriate for youth, but we do want to make you are aware of the subject matter before auditions so you can make an informed decision for your family. If you'd like to read the script ahead of time, click here.

Preparing for Auditions:
It is recommended that all auditioning students perform a memorized, dramatic monologue of their choice for their audition. Monologues should be 1 minute or less. Students should choose a monologue that fits with the style of the show. It is strongly recommended that you read the script before choosing your audition piece. There are books of monologues available online and at most public libraries. There may also be opportunities to read scenes from the script for the auditions. You will also be asked to learn some choreography and then perform it with some other auditioners. No preparation necessary but wear comfortable clothing to move in.

Participation Fee & Scholarships:

For students cast in our production, Young Footliters has an $85 participation fee. This fee helps to make our show possible and covers a portion of our production costs such as costumes, sets, props, painting, royalty rights, performance, and rehearsal facilities.

Theatre is for everyone! We never turn away a student who cannot pay the participation fee. Young Footliters provides scholarships to cover participation fees for all students who need help. If your student is cast in the production and needs financial support, your scholarship will be provided through the Charlie Bates Memorial Scholarship fund. All students will receive information on requesting a scholarship after auditions. You don't need to take any action at this time, but please feel free to contact Evan Hilsabeck if you have questions.
