Welcome to Auditions!
We want you to join the City Circle family!
City Circle warmly welcomes performers of every ability, race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and any other protected category to partake in all auditions. The casting team is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for the audition process, free from harassment, discrimination, or bullying. We encourage all those auditioning for Spring Awakening to research the issues raised in this show to ascertain their comfortability in exploring this content throughout the process.
We will be casting 18 years old and older for all roles.
If you have any questions about the audition process, or about volunteering with City Circle Theatre Company, please contact Elizabeth Tracey CCPA Artistic Producer.

This live production will be produced onstage at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. There are six performances of Spring Awakening. All actors auditioning must be available for all six performances.
- Fridays, May 3 and 10 at 7:30 PM
- Saturdays, May 4 and 11 at 7:30 PM
- Sundays, May 5 and 12 at 2:00 PM
Rehearsals start Monday, March 4 and run Monday through Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM and Sundays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Due to the inevitable conflicts during the week we may have some Friday or Saturday rehearsals. You will not be called for more than 5 rehearsals in a week. Actors will only be called to rehearsals as needed. Please list all conflicts on your audition form, including Fridays and Saturdays. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director. No absences are permitted from April 27 through May 2 without prior approval from the director.
Auditions will take place at The Community of Christ Church, 2121 S Ridge Drive, Coralville. Actors will fill out, in advance, an audition form as well as sign up for a short audition time slot for one of the following dates:
- Friday, February 16 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday, February 17 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Callbacks, if necessary, will take place at the same place:
- Sunday, February 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Preparing for the Audition:
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice that reflects the angsty rock style of this musical. We are eager to hear you show off your voice and your ability to tell a story. An accompanist will be provided. You are welcome either to sing from the musical or to make a different selection. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist if not singing from the musical.
To audition, you will need to complete two forms using the one link below. The first is an audition form, which gathers important information about each actor. The second form is a sign-up time for the audition you will attend. You will need to complete both forms before you can audition. We recommend filling out this form on a desktop or laptop computer.
- Please make sure that you have clicked “submit” on both forms. You may need to return to your audition form and submit it after signing up for an audition time.
- Please list all schedule conflicts on your audition form. We must have all conflicts at the time of audition. Think of everything that might interfere with rehearsals: vacations, family commitments, work or other obligations. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director.
