Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening May 3-12, 2024

Sex. Morals. Identity. Friendship. This electrifying rock musical explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a passion that is both illuminating and unforgettable.

Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Spring Awakening revolutionized musical theatre with its unflinching exploration of controversial subject matters and use of alternative rock and folk music.

Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director. No absences are permitted from April 27 through May 2 without prior approval from the director.

Audition Details:

Auditions will take place at The Community of Christ Church, 2121 S Ridge Drive, Coralville. Actors will fill out, in advance, an audition form as well as sign up for a short audition time slot for one of the following dates:

  • Friday, February 16 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Saturday, February 17 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Callbacks, if necessary, will take place at the same place:

Preparing for the Audition:

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice that reflects the angsty rock style of this musical. We are eager to hear you show off your voice and your ability to tell a story. An accompanist will be provided. You are welcome either to sing from the musical or to make a different selection. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist if not singing from the musical.

Sign Up:

To audition, you will need to complete two forms using the one link below. The first is an audition form, which gathers important information about each actor. The second form is a sign-up time for the audition you will attend. You will need to complete both forms before you can audition. We recommend filling out this form on a desktop or laptop computer.

  • Please make sure that you have clicked “submit” on both forms. You may need to return to your audition form and submit it after signing up for an audition time.
  • Please list all schedule conflicts on your audition form. We must have all conflicts at the time of audition. Think of everything that might interfere with rehearsals: vacations, family commitments, work or other obligations. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director.
